Daryl Dike update as frontman seeks new club after West Brom exit

The United States international is on the lookout for a new club after years of injury hell at The Hawthorns.

Former Albion striker Daryl Dike could be moving closer to a new club - back where it all started.

The frontman is in negotiations with a return to Orlando City in the United States, according to reports across the pond.

It is said all parties are finalising a deal for the free transfer.

It is from Orlando where the Baggies secured Dike’s signature four-and-a-half years ago, where they parted with £7million for his services after the powerful striker had impressed on loan at Barnsley under then Albion boss Valerien Ismael.

Dike endured regular injury nightmares at The Hawthorns, including two ruptured Achilles injuries, and his game time was severely limited.

He was released this summer at the end of his contract.

And now Dike appears set to return to Florida outfit Orlando, where he scored 19 times in 41 outings across 2020 and 2021.

In a heartfelt letter to Albion supporters earlier this week, Dike described his time as “setback after setback and defeat after defeat” for him personally but thanked fans for sticking by him.

He was only able to make 66 appearances for Albion, in which he netted 11 times.

The 26-year-old’s potential new home Orlando are 12th out of 15 teams in the current MLS Eastern Conference.
