Walker will now serve a three match suspension starting with tomorrow night's visit of Dagenham & Redbridge, leaving Dave Hibbert and another loanee Jamie White as the leading contenders in the battle to partner Grant Holt in attack.
Meanwhile, Simpson has praised his side for extending their unbeaten run to five matches, despite being reduced to 10 men so quickly.
"I think it was an absolutely magnificent point," said the Town boss .
"After going down to 10 men so early in the game, we knew it was going to be a tough scrap and I'm absolutely delighted with the way we have gone about it.
"I'm not trying to cop out but I honestly didn't see the actual incident (for the sending off).
"The people who did see it tell me it wasn't an elbow but I can't pass judgement.
"What I will say is that Walks isn't that type of character at all.
"But I thought once that happened we dug in and the players defended for their lives. We had chances and could have gone ahead with a bit more belief when we got in there and given them a real problem.
"But in the circumstances it was a very, very good point. "
