Shrewsbury Town to head to Isle of Man for pre-season festival

Salop will travel to the Isle of Man this summer as part of a four-team pre-season tournament ahead of the new campaign.

Shrewsbury Town will head to the Isle of Man this summer as part of their pre-season preparations for the new campaign.

Salop have announced they will take part in the island’s Summer Festival of Football four-team tournament ahead of the 2026/27 season.

They will face National League North side Radcliffe, before taking on either local outfit FC Isle of Man or Northern Premier League West champions Bury.

All matches will be played at the Ballacloan Stadium in Ramsey.

The festival has been relocated from The Bowl - home of FC Isle of Man - to Ramsey in order to showcase the facilities and local businesses in the north of the island.

Town will face Radcliffe on Friday, July 17, before meeting either FC Isle of Man or Bury in the final or third-place play-off on Sunday.

It comes after boss Gavin Cowan is set to have the summer to build his own squad at Shrewsbury, having guided them to safety in League Two and secured their Football League status.

They conclude their current season away at Gillingham on Saturday before the summer break.

As part of the pre-season tournament, no matches are scheduled for Saturday, July 18, with visiting supporters encouraged to explore the Isle of Man’s attractions.

These include the world’s largest working waterwheel, the Great Laxey Wheel, alongside the Manx Museum in Douglas, which showcases 10,000 years of the island’s history.

Visitors can also take in coastal walks, or visit Peel - known as “Sunset City” - and Port Erin.
