Shrewsbury Town have ‘responsibility’ to perform at Crawley Town

Gavin Cowan spoke to the media ahead of Shrewsbury Town’s trip to Crawley Town.

Gavin Cowan said Shrewsbury Town have a responsibility to themselves and other clubs to be the best they can when they face Crawley Town.

Salop’s final three games of the season are stress-free after they secured their Football League status with victory over Oldham Athletic last weekend.

They travel to a struggling Crawley Town side this weekend looking for a third win in four matches and aiming to build on that success.

Despite their survival bid now over, boss Cowan insisted there can be no let-up from his side.

He said: “Firstly, it's part of our own integrity - we've got the responsibility to other teams in the league who are fighting down there.

“We've got to be the best version of ourselves for our travelling supporters, for the chairman that pays the wages, for all the media guys that come out.

“We're still a well-oiled, functioning operation that has to be sustainable. It all comes from the players' performances on the pitch. We have to be the best version of ourselves regardless of the result.

“We want to go there and achieve a win. There's other teams relying on us, so we can't go there half-heartedly.

“We need to go there and be the best Shrewsbury Town that we can be. We want to get three points.”
