Dan Udoh shares special Shrewsbury Town moment on his return

Dan Udoh’s made a classy gesture after Shrewsbury Town’s win over Salford City.

Dan Udoh shared a heartfelt moment with Shrewsbury Town supporters on his return to the Meadow.

The former Salop striker started for Salford City as Shrewsbury claimed their first League Two win of the season - and his connection with the home supporters that provided one of the afternoon’s nicest moments.

Udoh remains hugely popular in Shropshire after his successful spell with Town, and that affection was clear throughout his return.

When he was substituted shortly after the hour mark, Udoh left the pitch to warm applause and chants of his name from the Salop faithful.

He responded by applauding the supporters and showing his appreciation.

And there was another special moment after the final whistle.

While the Salford players headed down the tunnel following their defeat, Udoh stayed behind.

He was the only orange shirt in a sea of blue as Shrewsbury celebrated their first league victory of the season.

Udoh walked around the pitch applauding the Town supporters, with fans embracing their former favourite.

It was a lovely moment between the striker and the supporters who took to him during his time at the club.

Udoh also reunited with Town boss Gavin Cowan, under whom he scored 26 goals at AFC Telford United before following his former manager to Shrewsbury in 2019.

The Nigerian spent five years at the Meadow, scoring 38 goals in 181 appearances for Town.

He left on a free transfer for Wycombe Wanderers in 2024, spending one season there and scoring 10 goals before joining Salford last summer.

Town explored the possibility of bringing Udoh back to Shrewsbury this summer, but Cowan confirmed several weeks ago that the striker was out of the club’s reach.
