Boss targets more Shrewsbury Town signings after Michael Golding arrival

Shrewsbury Town’s transfer business isn’t over yet with deadline day approaching.

Shrewsbury Town boss Gavin Cowan is targeting further additions to his squad after welcoming youngster Michael Golding.

The Salop boss is working hard to bring in reinforcements and bolster his options as the summer transfer deadline approaches.

Cowan had previously said he was hoping for at least two, and potentially three, more signings. And after Golding became the latest arrival, the Salop boss has his sights set on more.

Asked if he is still targeting that treble, Cowan said: “I’d absolutely love that, and maybe more.

“I’m doing everything I possibly can for bodies to be coming through the door. As a football club, that’s what we want.

“There’s a lot of football politics that go on behind the scenes in the football fraternity. We’re fighting hard against that.

“We just want to get our head down and just affect what we can affect.”

Golding became Town’s ninth signing of the summer, with the transfer window closing at 11pm on Tuesday.

“I’m doing everything possible to enable us to get players in,” Cowan added.

“I know the football club is doing everything they can. We can’t obviously jeopardise the football club in the process of doing that.

“I’m working very hard, relentlessly. I’m leaving no stone unturned. I’m working all the hours under the sun.”
