The 24-year-old had impressed in blue and amber since being brought in from the A-League outfit by former boss Sam Ricketts. His loan officially ended on December 31.

Millar bagged two goals in 13 appearances from right wing-back for Town, both goals coming in his first four games, and the powerful right-sider was a key part in the stunning revival under Steve Cotterill.

Cotterill had said he would have liked to keep Millar on a permanent deal but insisted that Shrewsbury would not be held to ransom by the parent club.

Despite Millar himself being keen to extend his Shrewsbury stay, the Town chief said that a future fee suggested in the terms of Millar's initial loan move was unacceptable.

It is understood Millar is out of contract at Newcastle Jets in the summer and Salop were unwilling to reach the asking price.

The Australian has finished his Covid-19 isolation period and is returning to his homeland today. Jets have already played three games of their new A-League season.
