The right-back joins John Askey's side to help bolster the back-line on a season-long deal.

The 21-year-old is also capable of playing on the right side of midfield, and has previously spent time on-loan at Rotherham and Crawley.

He featured in the Millers side that secured promotion to the Championship at Salop's expense in the League One play-off final - playing every minute of the encounter.

John Askey was delighted to secure the last minute signing.

"Josh has come in from Ipswich” he said.

"He was out on-loan with Rotherham last year and obviously had a good season with them, and was part of their promotion winning team.

“It was the one position where we haven’t got cover and obviously Josh provides us with that, and he’s shown he can do it at this level.

“He’s very athletic, strong, a good defender, but he can also get forward as well. We’re just trying to cover all basis and I think with this signing we do that.”

“It was important, I thought, with this being the last chance to bring anybody in, to get somebody in that would provide balance to the squad.

“We’re still trying to find the right combination that will provide us with a winning team and he comes in having been playing for Rotherham who won promotion last season, and hopefully he’s got that winning mentality that you need.”

The defender is not eligible to feature for Salop in their clash with Bristol Rovers tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Salop have recalled promising youngster Ryan Sears from his loan at AFC Telford.
