The 31-year-old, whose Town contract ended yesterday, has agreed a two-year deal with the League Two club after a similar length spell at Shrewsbury.

Akpa Akpro travelled to north London on Wednesday to finalise the deal, though he intends to keep his base in Shrewsbury.

The French forward scored 15 goals in 83 League appearances for Town and won automatic promotion from League Two in 2014-15.

He is looking forward to trying to repeat the feat with the Bees, who finished 15th last term.

Akpa Akpro said: "I loved my time at Shrewsbury and I'd have preferred to have stayed in League One, but I'm happy to have the challenge of trying to get Barnet there."

He teams up with fellow Frenchman at the Hive, ex-Stevenage centre back Bira Dembele, who he played against for Salop.
