Craig Harrison eager to land AFC Telford job

Craig Harrison and Marcus Bignot are among the early names in the frame as AFC Telford begin their search for Rob Edwards’s successor.

Edwards yesterday departed the New Bucks Head after only one season at the helm, following a week of discussions with the club’s hierarchy.

The former Wolves defender had guided Telford to a 14th-place finish in National League North but admitted to experiencing a ‘difficult’ year in which the club regularly flirted with the relegation zone.

Chairman Andy Pryce is now leading the hunt for his replacement, saying the Bucks are looking for a long-term appointment.

The Shropshire Star understands former The New Saints boss Harrison, who has been out of work since leaving Hartlepool in February, is keen on the role.

Bignot, also out of work after leaving Chester last week, is another intriguing name to be linked.

The 43-year-old began his playing career with the Bucks in 1992 and his younger brother, Paul, is currently on the club’s books.
