Vansh Bajaj and Harry Newton were rewarded for their performances with bat and ball during the season's school fixtures.

They received the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Spirit of Cricket Awards at a ceremony held at Lord's, during a recent England test match.

Both boys hit the headlines with bold performances against the MCC side, with Vansh scoring 109 and Harry taking six wickets for 24 runs.

Director of cricket Gareth Owen said: "Both cricketers have trained well in our winter programme and were ready to perform.

Vansh started his career at school with over 500 runs and over 20 wickets. This resulted in him playing for the Shropshire Under-21s development squad.

"Harry continues to flourish in the Cheshire county set-up and finished as the highest wicket taker for his age group.

"He was also awarded the Cheshire Young Player of the Year last year. We are extremely pleased that both have been recognised."

The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) awards are given to the class, team or individual boy or girl who has best displayed the Spirit of Cricket either on a specific occasion or throughout the season.

Derek Brewer, MCC Chief Executive, said: "These awards have been running for a number of years now and the conduct of the winners is always very impressive."
