Nigeria’s Patricia Mbata gave her a huge test in Glasgow, but Smith was eventually awarded the bout 3-2 on a split decision.

The women’s 75kg bout was so close that three of the rounds themselves were awarded on a split decision, while one knockdown went to Smith.

She now moves on to the semi-finals, where she will face Australia’s Emma-Sue Greentree on Friday night (8pm).
