Perry Evans back in the Tanners League winner's circle
All the latest action from across the county’s bowling greens.
If there’s a Tanners Shropshire Bowling League title to be won then Perry Evans is usually right in the reckoning.

The Monkmoor man won its League Handicap last year and now he’s the 2026 Merit champion after triumphing at Old Shrewsbury.
“Perry added the League Merit to his list of individual honours with a 21-10 success over Simon Lane (Unison) in the final,” said a league spokesperson.
“A 21-14 semi-final win against clubmate Keith Wall followed earlier round victories over Stuart Dorsett, Jon Lytle (this year’s Handicap winner) and Ian Foster.
“Simon beat Andy Pullen 21-18 in the semi-finals, having earlier won against Lee Walmsley, Kieran Walker and Nigel Ferrington.”
A consolation competition was played with Lee Walmsley (Prince Hotel) winning the final 21-10 against Christie Hughes (Monkmoor).
Isle of Man September Festival
Two Shropshire bowlers were today hoping to be the first to cash in on this week’s raid on the Isle of Man September Festival.
Helen Clee and Sarah Weaver, who have both tasted success in previous festivals, had won through to finals day of the Ladies Tourism.
Their quarter-final opponents on Nobles Park’s No.2 green in Douglas at 1am were Manx player Jenny Moore for Weaver (Wem USC) and Sian Ollerton of Wales for Clee (Edgmond).
Nobody from the county had reached today's finals of the Men's Tourism.
Molson Coors Mid Shropshire League

Young Shrewsbury bowler Jack Cooke is proving hard to beat in doubles competitions run by the Molson Coors Mid Shropshire League.
Having teamed up with Prince of Wales Hotel clubmate Ellis Griffiths to win the Junior Doubles, Cooke found the right recipe again in the Junior & Adult Doubles at Sinclair Bowling Club.
Partnered by another Prince Hotel man in Lee Walmsley, they took the honour by beating Louie Hill & Craig Baugh in Saturday’s final.
“They won 6-3 from 3-0 down in the seven ends final while in the semi-finals they defeated Jacob & Phil Lyttle 7-6 from 6-3 down, while Louie & Craig got past Harry & Pete Grimston 6-5,” said a league spokesman.
There were 17 pairings involved and a consolation KO led to a final that saw Myles & Ayden Smith defeat Taylor Thompson & Doug Wallace 8-3 from 2-0 down.
