Bowling club legends are honoured
The latest action from bowling greens across the county.
Two legends of Ifton Miners Bowling Club have been honoured in a special way and on a special day.

The St Martins-based club held a fun day to dedicate the vastly-improved clubhouse to the late Terry 'Gandhi' Williams and the new stand to Jim Edwards, who was in attendance.
“What a great afternoon at the Ifton Miners with 80 plus in attendance,” said a club spokesperson after Sunday’s sunshine event.
“A massive thank you to everyone that came and supported and a special thank you to Jill Edwards for all that you have done the last 12 months.
“The club currently has four teams (including one in the Premier League) and we are looking at interest from new players and starters as we are aiming for 10 teams next year in 2027, including veterans teams.
"Up the Miners!"
Harris Cup
A potential problem is looming for the organisers of the Harris Cup, the historic bowls knockout that is open to teams from all over Shropshire.
If holders Sir John Bayley win their five home-five away semi-final tie tonight against Premier rivals Wem USC it means the date of the final would have to change from September 12.
That’s because the Bayley are already through to the final of the County Cup which, after football’s World Cup caused a number of date changes, will now be played on Saturday, September 12 – and Shropshire association run events always come first.
Tonight’s other semi-final is a juicy looking affair between Mid Shropshire League champions Sinclair and Premier champions Castlefields.
It’s also Jubilee Doubles semi-finals time tonight with Whitchurch League big guns Woore A and Adderley A on course for a collision in the final while division two leaders District A look a good bet in the Jubilee consolation KO.
Main semi-final ties – Woore A v District C (+30) at Wem Albion; Adderley A v Joules MD (+20) at Whixall.
British Parks Junior Merit
Myles Fisher led a strong showing from the Shropshire contingent at the British Parks Junior Merit.
The Wem USC under-18, playing for the club in the top flight of the Tanners Shropshire League and helping their push for promotion in division two of the Whitchurch League, won three games at Kynpersley BC in Stoke.
They included a 21-18 card against the county’s title-bossing Ellis Griffiths (Prince Hotel) in the last eight, but Sunday’s semi-finals saw Fisher’s hopes ended.
He lost 21-16 to Jack Brown (East Midlands), who then lost to Yorkshire’s Corey Fountain in the final, North Shropshire Parks’ other quarter-finalist being Emily Hotchkiss.
