Aston Villa defender closing in on loan exit
The right-back has struggled to make an impact since joining the club.
Villa defender Andres Garcia is close to joining Getafe on a season-long loan.
The 23-year-old is expected to complete a move to the Spanish club later this week as he searches for more game-time.
Garcia has made only 18 appearances since joining from Levante for £5million in January, 2025.
His only Premier League start of last season came in the final day 2-1 win at Manchester City, when he was taken off at half-time.
Villa boss Unai Emery wants to recruit a right-back this summer to provide cover and competition for first-choice Matty Cash, with Flamengo’s Emerson Royal a top target.
That will mean even fewer opportunities for Garcia, for whom a loan move is viewed as the best way to help his development.
Garcia’s exit will be low-key during what is poised to be a tumultuous week in the transfer market for Emery’s side.
Midfielder Youri Tielemans is undergoing a medical ahead of a £35m move to Manchester United, while left-back Lucas Digne is on course to join Paris Saint-Germain after the World Cup.
Villa are themselves closing in on a club-record deal for Freiburg midfielder Johan Manzambi and want AC Milan’s Pervis Estupinan to replace Digne.
