AFC Telford United suffer winger injury blow
The player suffered the setback in Saturday’s win at Southport.
AFC Telford United are in the market for another winger with Charlie Williams expected to miss at least a month with a hamstring injury.
Williams was forced off during the second half of Saturday’s 2-1 win at Southport, in a blow to boss Kevin Wilkin.
The 22-year-old, who has scored two goals in 10 appearances this season, had been in impressive form for the Bucks but is now facing a spell on the sidelines.
Wilkin has confirmed the club will look for reinforcements to deal with his absence.
“We'll lose Charlie now, so that's where we are for a little while,” he said.
“We'll just have to see what we can get out there and bring into the club to help to add to what we are.
“You've got to think he (Williams) is going to be out for a minimum of a month, maybe more.
“Hopefully it's not too bad. It's disappointing because Charlie's playing consistently now and showing that little extra edge that he needs to put to his game.
“To be then set back with an injury is tough for the boy, but he's a great kid, and he'll come through that, and he'll go again.”
Williams’ injury was the one blot on another good weekend for the Bucks, who climbed up to 15th in National League North with a 2-1 win at Southport.
Alex Fletcher’s first goal of the season cancelled out Sol Solomon’s early opener for the home side, before Louis Moult bagged a second half winner for Wilkin’s men, who have now won three of their last four matches.
“I’m pleased with the win, of course,” said Wilkin. “We’ve had two very tough away fixtures and faced two very different challenges.”
