Step back to 1962 and see Shropshire as it looked more than 60 years ago.
From quiet village streets and country lanes to busy town centres, schools, railway stations and workplaces, these photographs capture familiar places at a time when the county was beginning to change.
For some, they will bring back memories of childhood, old shops and places that have long since vanished; for others, they offer a glimpse of a Shropshire they never knew.

18. A picture-postcard scene at Diddlebury
Diddlebury village is pictured in 1962, with the ford in the foreground and Diddlebury Church rising beyond it. The photograph was taken during an outing by Bridgnorth and District Camera Club and was shared by Ralph Walker of Bridgnorth. With the water running through the village and the church providing a familiar landmark, it is a scene that feels a world away from today. Can you remember using the ford at Diddlebury? Do you recognise this view? | Picture courtesy of Ralph Walker
