You know what it’s like, you look through some old family pictures and you come across some where you don’t recognise the people, the location is unfamiliar, and the occasion is a mystery.
It’s the same for us. Sometimes the original information with the photos is lost, or we have been sent them in the hope that someone, somewhere, can solve the riddle or come up with some information.
Our readers are always the best detectives, so examine the evidence in these images and see if you can spot any clues that might help put the pieces of the puzzle together. Let us know what you discover in the comments.
And no, this isn’t some sort of test where we give the answers at the end. We really don’t know.

13. Where's this?
Bert Rhodes sent us this picture with this message: "Please find attached photo of John Robert Jones. He is the one with apron and moustache. He was born in 1876 and died in 1958. He was married to Elizabeth in 1889. My mother told me he had been a steeplejack and had worked on St Mary's steeple. We all just assumed the picture was of St Mary's in Shrewsbury, but the picture is not of St Mary's Church. He was born in Droylsden just outside Manchester so it could be from anywhere. Of course it could be possible he met my grandmother when he worked on St Mary's. I believe the steeple was repaired around 1884. I hope your readers are able to shed some light on this matter." | Bert Rhodes

14. Not a wind up
"School orchestra" is written on the back of this print which was in our Shrewsbury office. The only other information is a partial stamp reading "for Secretary For Education." It is likely to be school children from a Shropshire school and, as you can see, they are playing the clarinet. Our guess at the date is early 1950s or maybe late 1940s. | Shropshire Star archive

15. Church in the community
There's housing in the background which might help in identifying this distinctive church, which may well have been in the Telford area. The picture came from the collection of David Benson of Shropshire Postcard Club. | David Benson

16. Mystery church
Another church, which may well be in the Oswestry area. The picture was in an album of postcards which was loaned to us by Mrs Diana Humphreys of Maesbrook. | Diana Humphreys
