Telford Ice Rink reveals packed Christmas events schedule - here are the details

An ice rink in Shropshire is preparing to host a series of special Christmas events and activities as the festive season looms.

Telford Ice Rink at St Quentin Gate in the town centre has revealed its Christmas calendar for 2026.

Families can expect Santa skate sessions, a Christmas jumper weekend, a school's out disco, a dedicated family disability-only skate session and a special Christmas Eve family skate session.

The festive schedule at the Telford & Wrekin Council-run ice rink will kick off on December 12, continuing right up until the big day itself:

Christmas jumper weekend

Pull on your favourite festive knit and enjoy 10 per cent off your public skate ticket. Telford residents with a TLC card can receive an additional 10 per cent discount.

• Saturday, December 12: 10.30am-12pm, 12.30pm-2pm, 2.30pm-4pm
• Sunday, December 13: 10.30am-11.45am, 1.30pm-3pm, 3.30pm-4.45pm

Santa skate sessions

Enjoy a festive skate and keep an eye out for a very special guest as Santa takes to the ice during selected sessions.

• Saturday, December 12: 12.30pm-2pm, 2.30pm-4pm
• Sunday, December 13: 1.30pm-3pm, 3.30pm-4.45pm
• Friday, December 18: 5pm-6pm - A dedicated family disability Santa skate session offering a relaxed and inclusive skating experience for disabled children, adults, and their families, with a special visit from Santa.
• Saturday, December 19: 12pm-1.30pm, 2pm-3.30pm, 4pm-5.30pm
• Sunday, December 20: 12pm-1.30pm, 2pm-3.30pm, 4pm-5.30pm
• Thursday, December 24: 9am-10.30am, 11.30am-1pm - Family tickets £30 (Christmas Eve offer)

School’s out disco

Celebrate the start of the Christmas holidays with an exciting disco skate featuring festive tunes, lights and plenty of fun on the ice.

• Friday, December 18: 7.45pm-9.15pm

Christmas Eve family skate

A warming Christmas tradition, bring the whole family along and burn off some of that excited energy before the big night. A special family skate ticket is available for just £30.

• Thursday, December 24: 9am-10.30am, 11.30am-1pm, 2pm-3.30pm

Councillor Angela McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council cabinet member for culture, tourism and leisure, said: “Christmas at Telford Ice Rink has become a much-loved festive tradition for many local families and we're delighted to be bringing back a fantastic programme of festive skating events once again this year.”

Tickets for the special Christmas Eve family skate session are available for the whole family at £30.

Councillor McClements said: “Whether you're looking to skate with Santa, enjoy a Christmas Eve family outing or simply have some festive fun with friends, there's something for everyone.

“We expect sessions to be popular, so I'd encourage people to book early and secure their place.”
