Severn Trent issues update on water supplies following pump failure in Shrewsbury

Problems were first reported on Tuesday morning

Severn Trent has said water supplies are back to normal for customers in Shrewsbury after two days of disruption.

On Tuesday morning (July 28) Severn Trent Water reported that some customers were experiencing “no supply, poor pressure or discoloured water” after pumps stopped working in the SY2 area of Shrewsbury.

Just before 7am, a spokesperson for the company said engineers were on their way to reset the pumps and that tankers were being used to pump water back into the water network.

Severn Trent warned supplies “may be intermittent at times” and apologised to customers for the inconvenience.

Disruption reportedly continued until Thursday. Just before midday, the water company reported that the works had finished, and supplies were “back to normal”.

A spokesperson for the company said: “For those that were impacted by this we’d like to thank you for your continued patience whilst this was being carried out.”
