Refurb plans revealed for vandal-hit Market Drayton public toilets
Plans for refurbishment of public toilets that have been repeatedly targeted by vandals have been decided and submitted by a town council.

After months of consultation, Market Drayton Town Council has decided on a proposed renovation plan for the Towers Lawn public toilet facility and submitted these to Shropshire Council.
The proposed new layout will see a total of five new "vandal-proof" cubicles installed with baby changing facilities in the men’s, ladies and disabled toilets. Renovation will also see a space created for a future use to be determined.
A town councillor has revealed that a number of issues have led to the decision being taken by the town council.
As well as the existing facility being quite dated, chair of the services & facilities department, Tim Manton said the public toilets have been subjected to large levels of vandalism during the past few years.

Mr Manton said there have been a number of "ongoing serious issues creating great expense and in some cases forcing the temporary closure of the facility".
He also revealed that during the last few weeks, the council moved to install three new soap dispensers in the men's toilets as a result of all of them being vandalised.
But, the town councillor said that within days "soap had been emptied all over the floor causing the cleaner issues".
At a meeting, councillors have now decided on a proposed refurbishment for the Towers Lawn public toilets.

Deputy Mayor and town councillor, Tim Manton said: "The completely new layout will see a total of five, brand new, modern, vandal proof, single cubicles (two ladies, two men’s and one disabled) with baby changing facilities in the men’s, ladies and disabled.
"Market Drayton prides itself on being one of the most progressive towns in North Shropshire. This modern, updated facility will be fit for the future of our expanding town and will be a welcome, clean, modern sight to anyone visiting our town, a message that hopefully they’ll take away with them to promote what a great town we are.
"I’m so pleased that Market Drayton Town Council see quality facilities at the heart of the town, facilities such as public toilets are an absolute necessity, not only to its community, but to a thriving town too, and the town council are delivering on that.

"If any member of the public would like to know more then they can pop into the town hall and see the plans for themselves or alternatively pop along to the next Councillor Market Stall on Wednesday, December 11 to see the plans and talk to councillors directly."
Market Drayton Town Hall is open from Monday to Friday between 9am and 1pm.
