New life set for former north Shropshire wine bar that closed last month

The venue closed over the first May bank holiday weekend

Plans have been lodged to turn a former cafe and wine bar in Whitchurch into an estate agents.

Estate agents, Dourish & Day, have asked the local authority for permission to turn a vacant building on Whitchurch High Street into its new office.

Until recently, the property at 44 High Street was home to Luke’s Cafe Wine Bar.

The bar, which opened just before the first Covid-19 pandemic lockdown in 2020, was run by Vikki Beazley and named after her son, Luke.

The venue served its last customer over the first May bank holiday weekend.

Dourish & Day’s proposal states there would be no alteration to the building with the exception of new signage.

Documents suggest the office would be open between 9am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm on Saturdays and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.

The application is available to view online on Shropshire Council’s planning portal using reference number: 26/01741/COU
