Motorist, 35, who drove on the M54 while over the alcohol limit gets driving ban

Magistrates also imposed a fine and court costs

A motorist who drove on the M54 while over the alcohol limit has been banned from the road.

Daniel White, aged 35, drove a Renault Megane on the motorway near Junction 2 for the Coven Heath interchange, Wolverhampton on July 3 this year.

A breath test found that White had 42 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath in his system. The legal limit in England and Wales is 35mcg per 100ml.

White, of Primley Avenue, Walsall, pleaded guilty at Telford Magistrates Court to driving with alcohol above the legally specified limit.

Magistrates banned White from driving for 12 months and fined him £120.

White was also ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £48 victim surcharge, bringing his total legal bill to £253.
