More than 1,800 signatures have backed a petition urging the Welsh government to improve women’s health care.
The petition, published on the Senedd website, calls for improvements to care for women suffering from conditions including endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), miscarriage and menopause.
It claims women are too often given outdated or unhelpful information when seeking medical advice, with many feeling ignored or dismissed when raising concerns about their symptoms and calls for greater recognition of symptoms including painful periods, irregular or absent periods, fatigue, hormonal imbalances and insulin resistance.

It also argues women should not routinely be advised to lose weight or offered contraceptives as a treatment without further consideration of their individual needs.
The petition, which was launched by Darci Agnew, states: “Women shouldn’t have to persist to be listened to and shouldn’t be disregarded and given lazy advice.”
It calls for more treatment options to be made available and significant changes to the way women’s reproductive and gynaecological health is managed.
Health departments in the Welsh Government have been contacted for a comment.
