Shrewsbury Steampunk Spectacular takes place this weekend and organisers are putting the final touches to the event.

Steampunk

Steampunk events are immensely popular, appealing to families, couples, the young and not so young

The event will focus around a Steampunk market at St Mary’s Church.

Steampunk favourites Belly Fusion Dance Collective will be entertaining throughout the festival.

There will be historic walking tours, teapot racing, a chance to bring along creations and take part in an obstacle course contest.

There will also be a costume parade, giving all those dressed in their steampunk finery the opportunity to show off their creativity.

Charles Darwin will see visitors arrive to explore his former school and Steampunk dressed librarians will offer activities and tours of the Shrewsbury Library.

Workshops will take place at St Mary’s Church, offering families the chance to try out and make musical instruments from scrap metal.

Some attractions and activities are ticketed, and all details can be found on Eventbrite, or chantillygrey.co.uk

On Saturday evening, The Buttermarket Cellars will provide the perfect Victorian venue for a line up of the best in Steampunk music and entertainment.

There will be dancing, singing, magic, music and laughter whilst also frequenting the fabulous and flamboyant Steampunk market in St Mary's Church, 10am – 4pm both days.
