The scheme will provide traffic signals on the roundabout and at each of the four main approaches to the roundabout from the A5, A49 northbound and A5112 southbound and on the roundabout carriageway.
The improvements will help reduce congestion at the junction by installing traffic signals controlled by a MOVA (Microprocessor Optimised Vehicle Actuation) system.
The new signals will continually monitor traffic and regulate changes to the traffic signals to make the junction better able to cope with daily and seasonal variations in traffic.
Road markings will be amended to provide an additional lane on the roundabout and to three lanes on the A5 westbound, A49 northbound and A5112 southbound approaches.
