Telford gym to close for more than a month for major refurbishment
The gym will be closed for five weeks
A gym at a Telford leisure centre is due to close for more than a month for refurbishment work.
The gym at Oakengates Leisure Centre is set for a “significant refurbishment”, according to Telford & Wrekin Council.
Improvements include a range of new ‘smart’ fitness equipment and facility improvements, including new flooring and redecoration.
The gym will be closed to the public from Monday, November 9 to Monday, December 14 for the work to take place.
Councillor Angela McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council cabinet member for culture, tourism and leisure, said: "This investment is about much more than new gym equipment. It's about helping residents improve their health, build confidence, stay active and enjoy the many benefits that regular physical activity can bring."
"We want our leisure centres to support everyone, whether they're new to exercise, returning after illness or injury, managing a health condition, or simply looking to stay fit and healthy.
"The new-look gym at Oakengates will offer a more personalised experience, helping people feel comfortable and supported as they work towards their own goals. We're delighted to be bringing this investment to the community and introducing the first EGYM smart strength circuit in Telford."
