Meet Knighton Town Council's new town clerk

A new clerk has joined Knighton Town Council recently.

Andrew Davies began working with the council in September and has been meeting members, local residents and getting used to his new role.

Andrew's background has been in community banking, regeneration projects and public service has been at the heart of his career.

He said: “I am delighted to have recently taken up the role of Town Clerk with Knighton Town Council and look forward to supporting the council, councillors and the wider community.

“I bring more than 20 years of experience in governance, financial management, community development and operational leadership across Wales.

“Throughout my career, I have worked with organisations closely connected to local authorities, community groups and public sector partners, helping to strengthen services, support local initiatives and ensure strong governance.

“My professional background includes community banking, regeneration projects and public-facing services; accountability and public service have always been at the heart of my work. I have extensive experience in financial oversight; budgeting, compliance, project coordination and supporting organisations through audit and regulatory processes.

“What has remained constant throughout my career is a commitment to communities. I have worked with individuals, volunteers, community organisations and partner agencies to improve services, build productive relationships and help deliver positive outcomes for local people.

“My childhood was spent in the valleys of south Wales and I now live in Llandrindod Wells. Supporting local democracy and ensuring that residents have confidence in the way their council operates is important.

“As Town Clerk, I will be committed to providing professional, transparent and effective support to councillors while helping the council continue its work on behalf of the community.

“I am looking forward to meeting residents, local organisations and community partners and playing my part in supporting Knighton's future. I am based at the Civic Centre Monday to Friday.”

Andrew has been warmly welcomed by members of the town council.
