Knighton Mayor has called for extra signage in the town, to tackle anti social behaviour
The mayor of a Powys town has called for extra signage to try and tackle some anti-social behaviour issues.
Knighton Mayor Councillor Tina Sharp raised the issue of signage around the town at a recent meeting.
She said at Knighton cenotaph, there are so many bikers that park there.
Councillor Sharp said they should not be parking there anyway but it is also a big risk as there is just rubble underneath that area as it used to be the old police station jail cells.
“Too much weight and they could go through and they should not be parking there anyway,” she said.
“I would like to put some signage up there to warn bikers not to park there and that the town council would not be responsible if anything happened.
“I will look into whether it is our property and if the land is ours then I will look into getting some signs.”
She said there is also a sign that is no longer required for the old police station and that should be removed, and she said they could also do with a cigarette bin in the cenotaph area as the town council's employees are continually clearing stubs out of the flower beds.
Members recalled as well that they had agreed to get some dog signs to warn people that not all dogs are friendly and to keep dogs on leads signs to go at Pinners Hole and maybe by the football field.
Members agreed to price up the signs and check on ownership of the land at the cenotaph.
