The festival will start on June 6 after the preview event on May 18, which saw 16 gardens open to admirers in the Belle Vue area. Money from the Gardens and Scarecrow Trail has helped ensure admission to exhibitions and the open air event. The Let's Celebrate Art takes place at the Coleham School field on June 15 and is free. Organisers say they are very grateful to householders for boosting funds by opening up their beautiful gardens. Festival secretary Judy Townsend said: "From 2pm to 5pm on the afternoon, we provide more than 20 family art activities, music, magic and entertainment, but want to make this available to the whole community. "We do receive help from Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council, The Mid-Counties Co-operative, Shrewsbury and District Arts Association and local shops and businesses but not enough to pay for the whole festival. The garden trail has helped to plug the hole." Read more in the Shropshire Star
