Enforcement notice slapped on Telford home over alleged unlawful 'keeping of dogs'

The homeowner will have 28 days to appeal

A Telford resident has been warned by the borough council over an alleged breach of planning permission and “untidy land”.

According to Telford & Wrekin Council’s website, an enforcement notice has been served on a property on The Lawns in Wellington.

The local authority issued the notice over allegations of untidy land and unauthorised change of use of the property, from purely residential to ‘mixed use’.

It claimed the property has been used for both residential purposes and the “keeping of dogs”.

Local planning authorities have the power to serve notices on landowners and occupiers, ordering them to carry out works to improve land which is considered to be negatively affecting the amenity of an area.

Also known as 'untidy land notices', they can require a wide range of works to be carried out including clearance or repairs, and failure to comply can lead to prosecution and a maximum fine of £1,000.

The occupier will have 28 days to launch an appeal against the enforcement notice.
