The flags recently have been erected on garden canes above the streetlight columns along the A49 in the town.
Campaigners say the flags, which are on the road south of the Dobbies island are not only unauthorised but also dangerous as the “flimsy” canes are likely to snap.

In a statement on social media, campaign group Lower the Flags Shrewsbury said: “These flimsy setups have been stuck up with parcel tape that is already unravelling.
“They protrude into the roadside environment and pose a real hazard to drivers, especially at speed, in poor weather, or if the canes/flags become loose or fall - which is likely.
“Distracted or obstructed views, potential debris on the carriageway, and the risk of collision make this a serious road safety issue that should not be ignored.”
The group added that the council and police have been informed.
