Closure planned for Telford gym amid 'major upgrade'

The gym will be closed for around 10 days

A council-run gym in Telford will soon close temporarily for a “major upgrade”.

Telford & Wrekin Council say they are making a “major investment” in fitness facilities at Lawley and Horsehay Village Golf and Fitness Centre, with a brand-new suite of state-of-the-art gym equipment.

The gym will temporarily close from August 28 to September 7 while the improvements are completed.

The local authority said the investment will see the introduction of modern, updated Freemotion cardio and strength equipment, including IFIT-enabled machines that provide interactive and personalised workout experiences, new fixed resistance equipment and a bespoke BLK BOX rig.

Councillor Angela McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council cabinet member for culture, tourism and leisure, said: “We're committed to providing modern, accessible leisure facilities that support the health and wellbeing of our residents.

"This investment in Lawley & Horsehay Village Golf & Fitness Centre will significantly enhance the gym experience for our members, with new equipment and technology that caters for people of all fitness levels.

"While a short closure is necessary to complete the installation, we're excited to reopen the gym with upgraded facilities that will benefit existing members and attract new users from across the borough."

During the closure period, work will be carried out to remove existing equipment and install the new gym suite. Members can use other leisure facilities within the borough as part of their membership.
