In mid-July, Bridgnorth Medical Practice suffered significant flooding and a major water leak and was temporarily closed.
GPs have been running services from their sister site in Highley since the closure, and the practice is also providing some services from Bridgnorth Community Hospital.
But after a meeting with surgery bosses this week, NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin have said the GP practice will be out of action for “several months”.
However, the health body added that they were trying to secure further medium-term accommodation to increase capacity for the practice.
A spokesperson at NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin said: “The Northgate Health Centre building where Bridgnorth Medical Practice is usually based remains temporarily closed following extensive flood damage.
“In the meantime, GP services are being provided from Bridgnorth Community Hospital, located opposite the practice on the Old Smithfield Road. The Highley Medical Centre building is also open with extended capacity, serving both Highley and Bridgnorth patients. This is ensuring that patients can still access face-to-face appointments if required.
“Work is progressing to secure further medium-term accommodation to increase capacity for the practice, as the building in Bridgnorth is not expected to be able to accommodate services for several months.
“NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin is working closely with the practice and community trust colleagues to ensure residents continue to receive access to high-quality healthcare services in Bridgnorth.”
