Vandals have daubed the walls with graffiti, smashed tables, set fires and destroyed the shack’s barbecue.

In a statement, the club said the vandalism had been “upsetting”.

“We are saddened and disappointed to share that our Snack Shack at Baschurch Junior Football Club has been the target of senseless vandalism,” the club said.

“Over the last few weeks, the Snack Shack has been extensively damaged. Graffiti has been painted on the walls, tables have been smashed, a small fire was deliberately set outside using petrol, and our barbecue has been damaged beyond repair after its glass fronting was completely smashed.

“This is particularly upsetting because the Snack Shack is much more than just a place to buy food and drink. It helps us provide refreshments to our players, families, volunteers and supporters on matchdays, and every penny raised goes straight back into supporting grassroots football for local young people.

“Our club is run by volunteers who give their time to create a safe, positive and welcoming environment for children and young people in and around Baschurch to enjoy the game they love. To see facilities that have been built and maintained for the benefit of the community treated in this way is heart-breaking.

“Despite this setback, we remain committed to supporting our players and providing opportunities for local children to play football, develop friendships and be part of a fantastic club. We would like to thank everyone who continues to support us and we will keep you updated as we assess the damage and begin repairs.

“If anyone has any information regarding this incident, please contact the relevant authorities.”

The club has now launched a fundraiser to repair the kiosk.

They said: “ Sadly, this vandalism has left us facing unexpected repair costs and a considerable amount of work to get the Snack Shack operational again. We are therefore asking for the support of our community to help us restore this important facility and continue providing refreshments and a welcoming environment for our players, supporters and families.”
