Kington residents invited to enjoy a bacon and egg breakfast to help Christian communities facing persecution
A Kington church is offering the chance for people to enjoy egg and bacon and help Christian communities facing persecution.
St Mary’s Church will be holding a Barnabas Brekkie in the Parish Hall on Thursday, May 14 at 9.30am.
Barnabas Aid is an international aid agency that aims to support Christian communities, churches and individuals around the world who face persecution and discrimination because of their faith.
A Barnabas Brekkie is a way for everyone to support their work by bringing hope, one plate at a time.
A spokesperson said: “Barnabas Aid has set a target of providing one million pigs and one million chickens to Christian farmers in contexts of marginalisation and poverty and a simple meal of bacon and eggs can be used to promote this.
“Chickens are cheap and versatile animals, their meat is a healthy source of protein and their eggs are a nutritious food source that can also provide the basis for a small business.
“Pig meat is valuable and their manure can be used in agriculture. In areas where Christian farmers are attacked by Islamist bandits, pigs will not be stolen as they are considered unclean in Islam.”
