Watch: Telford pupils' delight as they unveil school mural painted by local artist and funded by community
Primary school pupils in Telford have been showing off a mural at their school, painted by a local artist inspired by their unique nature setting.
Dothill Primary School in Wellington sits within the bounds of Dothill Nature Reserve.
The beauty spot was an inspiration for a number of local people who clubbed together to fund the mural at the school.
The nature-themed artwork was painted by artist Neil Willis who has made a name for himself by painting murals on bus stops in Telford.
At the unveiling on Thursday, local businessman Anthony Nicholls from farm shop Anthony's of Wellington, said he helped find the mural as he wanted to inspire the children in the same way that he was at school.
He said: “The school is literally planted within the nature reserve so it s good to remind the children what is exactly on their doorstep.
“I grew up around here and spent time in walking and cycling in the nature reserve and now I do the same with my children.”
Local resident Jim McGinn who also contributed to the mural added: “This is really inspiring. I think it is great. I'm a friend of the local nature reserve so it is the best subject as far as I am concerned.”
