Renault’s Trafic E-Tech arrives with 292-mile range

Electric van has a range of up to 292 miles.
Renault has launched its new Trafic E-Tech in the UK, bringing a spacious electric van to market which offers a range of up to 292 miles.
Priced from £38,000 plus VAT, the new Trafic is available with 60kWh and 81kWh battery options, with the latter bringing that headline range.
Both get a 160kW electric electric motor and a standard-fit heat pump which can help to boost efficiency during colder temperatures. The Trafic can also accept a maximum charge of up to 240kW, which would allow for a 10 to 80 per cent charge in under 20 minutes.

Vehicle-to-load (V2L) is also equipped as standard on ‘extra’ trim, which means that the van’s high-voltage battery can be used to charge external devices. For commercial users, this could mean topping up tool batteries while on site, or powering lights and mixers.
Two body lengths – 4.87m and 5.27m – are available to choose from, offering space for up to three standard Euro pallets on certain models. A maximum payload of up to 1.3 tonnes has also been confirmed, alongside a towing capacity of two tonnes.
Renault says that the Trafic’s turning circle is the same as the one offered by its Clio hatchback, too, which should help when navigating urban environments.

Inside, there’s a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a 10-inch digital driver’s display with wireless smartphone integration. All vans also get adaptive cruise control, front, rear and side parking sensors and a reversing camera.
Higher-spec Extra models add metallic paint, automatic climate control and wireless smartphone charging. This grade also gets a mobile office configuration, which can make it easier to use as a workspace when parked up.
Pre-orders for the new Renault Trafic E-Tech opened today ahead of first deliveries commencing in the second quarter of next year.
