Steady Eddie: Redmayne fan Sarah enjoys a brush with fame

He's been on a grand tour of our region including trips to Ikea and a gift shop. But now Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne has been spotted browsing the aisles of a supermarket.

Mother-of-three Sarah Poole only went to Co-op in Eccleshall for a pint of milk on New Year's Eve. But when she came out she'd bagged herself a selfie with a multi-millionaire actor.

Sarah's tweet:

It it was only the previous day that a family from Telford spotted him during a trip to Ikea alongside the M6.

It isn't the first time the actor has been spotted out shopping by Shropshire Star readers. He was spotted in Ludlow back in July, when he was browsing at The Silver Pear gift shop and was again happy to stop and speak to fans.

The 33-year-old star, who is believed to be renting a home in the area, happily posed for a selfie with Mrs Poole, 48, as he made his way around the Co-op aisles with his wife Hannah Bagshawe.

Mrs Poole, who lives just outside of Eccleshall, said: "It was bizarre because as I was driving into Eccleshall high street and looked to the left I thought that I'd seen Eddie but didn't think it could be true so I carried on.

"I went into the Co-op to get some milk and started to tell an old school friend about how I thought I had just seen him. But when I turned to my right , there he was - Eddie Redmayne."

The actor, best known as the star of The Theory of Everything, has been doing the rounds on TV shows to plug his new film The Danish Girl, in which he stars

as transgender pioneer Lili Elbe in The Danish Girl.

Mrs Poole, who works part-time in catering, added: "I did joke with him that it was difficult to recognise him dressed as a man because I'd seen The Danish Girl. He was just really, really lovely- and so was his wife. At first I wasn't going to bother them, but then again how many times do you bump into an Oscar-winning actor in the Co-op."

The film star's appearance at Ikea was the talk of Twitter and other social media sites.

Redmayne announced last month that he is expecting his first child with wife Hannah Bagshawe.

As well as The Danish Girl, 2016 will see Redmayne star in the Harry Potter spin off film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
