Telford Business Partnership has a new chairman, with Andrew Mason taking over from Graham Wynn OBE.
Mr Mason's aim is to promote collaboration between member companies during the coming year.
Thanking members for their support, Mr Mason said: "It is a privilege to be asked to chair the TBP, especially as membership continues to grow with support from 100 local businesses in the professional services sector, Transforming Telford and Advantage West Midlands."
He added: "Many members already work together through sharing knowledge, by organising joint events and promotions and by providing each other with services.
"TBP aims to build on this experience by using resources to support members who wish to explore further opportunities for collaborative working.
Mr Mason said members had already voiced an interest in:
l Meeting small groups of complementary businesses to explore collaboration.
l Examining the potential for join procurement of services and products.
l Identifying opportunities for collaborative bidding for large contracts.
l Providing a notifying service for contract opportunities.
l Joint research into key business issues.
l Joint events to attract potential new customers in Telford and Shropshire.
l Collaboration with members of the other five business and professional service networks in the region.
Now in its third year of operation in its current organisation, TBP is recognised as the voice of the professional business services sector, encouraging collaboration between member companies to assist businesses wishing to invest and grow in Telford.
Mr Mason, of the Andrew Mason Consultancy, formally accepted the role of chairman during the TBP annual review and quarterly meeting at the Madeley Court Hotel, attended by 90 members and guests, which included the Mayor of Telford & Wrekin Councillor Malcolm Smith and Councillor Keith Austin, Leader of Telford & Wrekin Council.
The meeting included an inspiring presentation from guest speaker Kevin Parr, of Parr Marketing on building creative and profitable relationships. Using a powerful networking model, Kevin demonstrated how success can be achieved by simply planting credentials positively in the minds of potential clients.
TBP launched its programme of events for 2007, which in addition to quarterly networking events includes a number of specialist workshops on current business topics such as data protection and environmental policy.
