New Leeds boss Neil Warnock today revealed he withdrew from the race to be Wolves manager because the club could not move quickly enough.
The former QPR manager confirmed he spoke to Wolves chairman Steve Morgan and chief executive Jez Moxey in the wake of Mick McCarthy's sacking.
But Warnock wanted an answer within 24 hours and decided to join Leeds when Wolves moved on to interview other candidates. He said: "I spoke to Steve Morgan and Jez Moxey and I was interested. I like Wolves. It's a good club.

"But I asked if they could give me a decision in 24 hours and they weren't ready for that. They were still interviewing and there were other candidates. Also there was the Leeds thing and, being from Yorkshire, Leeds probably suited me."
Walter Smith, meanwhile, revealed why he rejected the chance to take the Wolves job – and insisted his reasons were entirely "personal" as revealed in later editions of yesterday's Shropshire Star.
Smith said: "I was totally unsure whether I really wanted to do it or not. It was a purely personal thing, nothing to do with Wolves."
