Shrewsbury Town duo ready to return at Coventry

Shrewsbury Town are set for a double boost tomorrow as Micky Mellon promised fans their early Rochdale roasting would never be repeated.

Goalkeeper Jayson Leutwiler and Jermaine Grandison have recovered from back injuries which have kept them out for the last two games and trained fully yesterday ahead of tomorrow's trip to Coventry.

But boss Mellon hinted that the pair look unlikely to start at the Ricoh Arena.

"They both trained yesterday and they got a good session in but we'll see how they are over the next 24 hours," said the boss.

"We'll see how Jayson reacts but I was happy with Mark Halstead on Saturday and Tuesday so I have no problem with him and we'll carry on with him.

"Jermaine came through and we'll look to see what the reaction is.

"He was probably a bit rusty but when big guys miss a lot of training sessions they take a bit of time to get going again."

Mellon is anxious not to repeat the mistakes after accusing his side of being outrun in Tuesday's 3-2 defeat at Rochdale when they conceded three times in the first 15 minutes.

"We never ran hard enough from the start which is unusual and something I haven't seen here," he said.

"We will nip that in the bud and make sure it never happens again. People say 'you showed character for coming back' but we should have showed character from the first minute."

Mellon is satisfied lessons have been learned.

"We repaired the damage, we spoke about it straight afterwards and we worked on things relating to it yesterday morning," he said.

"What's important is to try to become a better team from it. If we get into these situations again, we'll use that experience to improve us."
