Shrewsbury?Town this afternoon completed the signing of Wales Under-21 striker Ryan Doble.

The former Southampton forward was without a club having been released by Nigel Adkins' side following their promotion to the Premier League.

Doble, who made one first-team appearance for the Saints, spent time on loan at Bournemouth and Bury last season.

"I'm at a stage now where I need to go and play games consecutively and I feel ready for it," said the 21-year-old. "I'm itching to get going.

"I like to play just off a striker and like to get on the ball a lot. Hopefully I can get a few important goals.

"I like to try and make things happen.

"I've been at Southampton since I was 11 so I was there 10 years and enjoyed my time but I'm happy to move on. I hope to push for a first-team place and play regularly."

Doble, a team-mate of Town striker Tom Bradshaw at international level, brings extra competition for places up front following the departure of last season's top goalscorer James Collins to Swindon Town.
