The 16-year-old has been named in the England Under-18s starting line-up for their clash against their Scotland counterparts at Preston Grasshoppers.

Kershaw, who attends Shrewsbury College, is skipper of Oswestry Under-18s and part of the England Talent Development Group as well as the Worcester Valkyries academy.

“I felt excited and nervous also when I got the email,” she said. “It’s a dream come true.

“I’m just trying to think of it as a normal match. We’ve been told that Scotland will be physical and very well drilled.”

Oswestry Under-18s coach Matt Bowyer is hoping Kershaw can do well and keep her place for the next fixture against Wales in April.

“We are very proud of her and hope she performs to the level that we know she can,” he said.

“I hope she inspires more girls to come down to the club and play rugby.”
