Otto and Kristina Blank, from Market Drayton's Ataru Shotokan Karate Club, have spent months preparing for their black belt assessments.

Sixteen-year-old Kristina passed her Nidan (second degree) black belt, adjudicated by national chief instructor Sensei Andy Sherry, a ninth dan.

Just a week later Otto followed suit, again adjudicated by Sherry, to achieve his Yondan (fourth degree black belt).

The club, established in Market Drayton since 1974, now has around 15 black belt students of various ages.

The club meets on Sundays at 6pm and Tuesdays at 6.30pm with both sessions at the Drayton Centre on Frogmore Road. For more information contact Otto on 07976 730052.
