Pallett's prize for reaching the fourth round, a run he emulated from last year, was a live ITV4 contest against the 16-time world champion,

He's beaten 'the Power' on the floor in the 2013 Players Championship before, but his wait for a victory when the live cameras are rolling goes on.

Taylor stormed past the 25-year-old by a 9-3 scoreline, recording an impressive 107.27 average, as the distance was lengthened to the best of 17 legs.

Pallett was 3-0 down before he knew it, with back-to-back 12-darters on the way, before he could muster a reply on double 14. Taylor then hit legs in 13 and 14 darts to move 5-1 up.

Again, Pallett hit back on double eight before Taylor followed up with 13 and 11-dart legs which he opened with 177 and 180, then moving 8-2 up by taking his in-running average to 109.

His best leg of the match saw Pallett again respond in 14 darts but Taylor shone to seal victory, hitting two 180s in the final leg as he missed out on a possible nine-darter.

They opened the afternoon session on the main stage at Butlins in Minehead, the second day of play for Pallett after winning three games to get there.

A 9-4 success over Colin Fowler on the Friday evening followed two wins in the afternoon, as the 128-man competition flew into action.

The Shropshire thrower was first called to board eight to take on former PDC world championship finalist Mark Dudbridge, who had beat Lloyd Pennel 5-1.

Dudbridge was dispatched 5-2 in their first round tie, putting Pallett through to take on the fresh 'Pie Man' Andy Smith on board three.

An exciting nine-leg shoot out went the distance before Pallett prevailed on tops for 76, leaving him to regroup for the evening's festivities.
