The Bucks were under the cosh for large spells at Bootham Crescent but Matthew Barnes-Homer finished off a fine counter-attack move on the stroke of half-time to put them ahead.

They held on against the bookies' second favourites for promotion thanks to some phenomenal Jas Singh saves and gritty defending against several long throw-ins.

Edwards said: "There was 17 players that travelled and every single one of them were fantastic.

"They have done themselves and the club proud this weekend.

"They have set themselves a standard now in terms of togetherness, work rate, desire, spirit and doing the nasty things.

"They were unbelievable at that and I'm really proud of them because they came up against a barrage."

Edwards went on to hail the 'desire, commitment and togetherness' of his players.

"Jas made some terrific saves and the lads put their bodies on the line," he added.

"Everyone of them, from one to 17, had a massive part in the win.

"First and foremost, that is what is required to win football matches and to be successful.

"Any successful team will have shown that desire, commitment and togetherness.

"The lads showed that in abundance. There was a lot of long balls and a lot of long throws. I'm so proud of the players."
