Mike Grogan itching for Telford action

Fit-again midfielder Mike Grogan is looking to get back among the goals for AFC Telford United ahead of his potential return to action against Boston on Saturday.

Grogan, the Bucks' player of the year in 2013-14, has not figured this campaign due to a knee injury which may still need an operation.

But the midfielder is back in training and was amongst the substitutes for the 1-0 defeat at AFC Fylde at the weekend.

Grogan feels able to play and sees no reason why he cannot help the Bucks out of their rut.

He said: "I was excited on Saturday. Obviously, I didn't get on but at the time we were going for a goal so he put the forwards on. But I am excited to be back and I just want to play now.

"I have got a tear in my meniscus in my knee and there is damage to my cartilage as well. I still might need an operation but I have had some fluid taken out of my knee which has helped it a little bit.

"The doctor just wants me to see how I go. I am not sure (how long I can play with it for).

"He just wants me to see how I get on and if the pain is still there after a few weeks I will have to come back and maybe have the operation.

"It is feeling a little bit better. I am still getting a little bit of pain but it is nothing that I can't withstand.

"I think if I was playing I would score if I was playing in midfield. I did last time so I don't see why I wouldn't this time.

"The lads are getting balls into the box but no-one is getting on the end of them."

Meanwhile, boss Rob Smith remains in the dark over extending the loan of defender Graham Hutchison. The Halifax centre-back played the final game of his month-long stay at Fylde.

Smith had hoped to extend the deal but the Shaymen have a new manager in Darren Kelly who has replaced Neil Aspin – the man who loaned Hutchinson out.
