Rob Smith: Wins will come for AFC Telford
Manager Rob Smith is adamant that the wins will come for struggling AFC Telford United despite coming up short on the road again at Fylde.
The Bucks, who remain at the foot of the National League North table, are yet to claim an away point this season.
And they were unable to halt that run despite playing against 10 men for more than 70 minutes at Kellamergh Park.
But they pushed their promotion-chasing opponents hard in the second-half in particular, albeit without being able to conjure a goal.
And Smith said: "I am disappointed. I thought we dominated a lot of the possession, especially in the second-half.
"It was just that last third again. We needed that little bit of magic and we haven't quite got it, at the moment.
"It isn't quite dropping for us but that is what happens when you are bottom of the league. But I can't fault the effort today.
"We have come to probably the most difficult place to come to in the division and given a good account of ourselves.
"On another day we could have got something out of it. The level of performance is not relegation material and as long as we keep performing like that the wins have to come sooner or later.
"It just has to. Some of the performances out there were really decent and I was pleased.
"We have got to take the positives and I thought it was a positive performance, but we are going home empty-handed again."
Asked why Telford had again failed to find the net he said: "That is what happens to everybody down the bottom of the league.
"The strikers are struggling with confidence but the next goal we score might come off somebody's backside and that is the what we need, a little bit a deflection or luck to get us going again.
"All that dressing room needs is a win and we will get on a run. I am sure of it.
"It has to turn and we will keep trying to strengthen the squad as we go a long as well."
"We thought we would have Dwayne Samuels for today, but Brackley put a block on that at the last minute.
"We could have him available potentially next weekend and then obviously we will still be on the lookout - we are always on the lookout because we are not winning games.
"But anyone who came today could see that we really are close (to where we need to be)."
There could also be a number of departures at the New Bucks Head next week, including goalkeeper Mason Springthorpe joining Northwich
Smith said: "I think that will happen on Monday and we will see what happens in terms of other players going out this week."
