McIver, an off-spin bowler and middle order batsman, has started the season in fine form for Shifnal since joining them over the winter from Crewe.

And he has been handed the chance to take on first-class opposition when the Pears come to his home ground.

McIver has represented Oxford MCC University, where he is known to Shropshire skipper Steve Leach, and played in county second XI competitions for both MCC Universities & Nottinghamshire.

He has been called up with Shrewsbury batsman Ollie Westbury unavailable due to other cricket commitments.

Otherwise the 12-man squad is the same that defeated Wales in Shropshire's last Unicorns Trophy clash.

The match starts at 5pm and admission is £5 for adults, £2 for under-16s. Worcestershire are poised to include former Shropshire players Joe Clarke, Ed Barnard, Jack Shantry and Joe Leach in their team.

Squad: Steve Leach (Shifnal) (Capt), Omar Ali (C&R Hawks), Ross Aucott (Worfield), Henry Blofield (Shrewsbury), Will Cook (Worfield), Sam Griffiths (Shrewsbury), Ryan Lockley (Bridgnorth), Jack McIver (Shifnal), Richard Oliver (Reigate Priory), Anthony Parker (Broseley)(Wkt), David Wainwright (Castleford), Alex Wyatt (Ticknall).
